Condition: Wear to bowl, marks indistinct.
A 17th Century English solid silver Trefid Spoon dating from around 1680.
It measures 19.5cm or 7 3/4". Weight is 51 grams.
Of typical Trefid form. The flat stem widens at the end where it is divided into three sections by two incisions.
Rat-tail join to reverse of Bowl. Contemporary engraved initials - 'W*O'.
Hallmarked to stem with four evenly-spaced rubbed marks, although the Leopard Head can be reliably recognised as the lowest mark.
Clear evidence of consistent use over the centuries. The Bowl is considerably worn at the tip by generations of right-handed owners. The rat-tail is clear but worn. The Spoon is sound, the bowl is smooth with good thickness of silver.
